My family's got stories you couldn't create.
True stories of love, violence, and hate.
And stories of joy and sadness too.
If you really must know, I'll tell them to you.
My father's got a past you would likely want.
Money and power and rights to taunt.
But behind his eyes there is a child.
Who's fears and insecurities run wild.
My mother's got faith you couldn't deny.
And there are multiple reasons why.
From the boy who attacked to the father who drank.
To her now perfect life, she has God to thank.
My brother's got bones that stretch so wide.
And a fake set of teeth behind which he can hide.
But underneath skin there's a heart so big.
Where love and music and fantasy live.
Now, me I've got scars all over my body.
It's surprising that you can't see them today.
But I wouldn't switch places with nobody.
Cause I know my life was supposed to be this way.
I deserve all the hurt for the things I've done wrong.
I deserve all the love for the things I've done right.
Whether I write a novel or compose a hit song.
I'm taking back my life....tonight
